The boundary and the sun are real. The ground surface between them is a procedural approximation shaped to match the drainage, the graded bench, and the creek — accurate enough to reason with, not a survey product, and not a substitute for walking the land or hiring an engineer. Scores are opinions expressed as arithmetic.

Scored on buildable slope, solar aspect (this slope faces north, so aspect is the honest weak spot), creek and property-line setbacks, how much new driveway you'd have to cut, and how much timber you'd have to clear for defensible space.

Chase the sun
Off-grid, the sun is the utility. Aim the array, set the tilt, and drag the clock through a December day to see what the ridge takes back.
Sun position comes from solar declination math at this latitude. Production integrates cosine incidence across the year and zeroes the hours the modelled terrain horizon blocks — which is why December, not June, sizes the system.

One budget, one parcel. Spend it on power, storage, a creek-fed trout pond, and a greenhouse — then find out how close you got to running this place on what it produces.
Well and septic are fixed costs you cannot skip. Yields use the same conservative models as the Future Scale page: 1,500 kWh per kW-year, 100–300 trout per acre, 0.9 lb of produce per greenhouse square foot.
